Byrne and Claremont, Spiderman and guest heroes. What more could you ask for in a collection of Bronze Age Marvel? not much! Except more.While I have these issues in the Essential b/w format. Byrne is one of few artists of the era (Perez being another) that really merits having the works in color. Byrne's lines are crisp and detailed, yet not too cluttered. Since this is earlier in his career, his faces are softer and nicer to look at (even if they do pretty much look alike).the stories are fun, action packed and were great in that they did carry some continuity from one issue to the next. When they first came out, it was hard to wait for a month until the next issue arrived in my mail box.Be sure to get this for your collection. The issues with Havok and Thor are the best (the cover is based on this story). Again, just fun story telling.
Claremont and Byrne are legendary for their X-men run. Here they were having a little fun by creating Spidey stories and adding a cool Marvel guest star every month. Good fun stories. Highlights: Murderworld, Living Pharoah/Monolith. Issue 79 with Red Sonja was not included. Too bad because that was a great one. Some of the stories do not hold up as well as I remember them from youth. Also remember, Byrne had a few more Marvel Team Up issues without Claremont that I really loved as a kid (Issues 53 & 54 with Hulk, Issue 55 with Adam Warlock).
I bought the first issue in this collection (#59) when I was 8, and always wondered how the storyline it started turned out... 42 years later, I now know 😸.Still have that issue in one of my comic boxes...Thanks Marvel and Amazon!
These are first class comic books by the legendary Claremont & Byrne team right as they were going on to X-Men. It's fun to read a Chris Claremont Spidey, he has a good handle on his voice and really makes the world feel cohesive. That's one of the great things about old school Marvel, how everybody really feels linked together. The plots are crazy, action packed romps that lead intro one another so John Byrne gets to really draw a lot of different neat things. Bottom line, if you want to read fun comics about superheroes teaming up, look no further.

Claremont and Byrne's legendary partnership continued in the pages of Marvel Team-up in this almost complete collection of their amazing run on the book. The Red Sonja issue is not included due to rights issues.
I really love this collection. There were so many great stories and fantastic art. Claremont and Byrne were terrific at involving lots of different characters in interesting two-part stories.I was disappointed that the Red Sonja story was not in the collection.
Reading this book, it's honestly surprising that Claremont and Byrne are known for their run on Uncanny, and not on Spider-Man. The pair are firing on all cylinders here, with Claremont having Spidey's voice down to a tee, and Byrne drawing Spidey as well as any. The only problem I found with this book was the nearer I got to the end, the more I wanted their to be more. Put this two on a current Peter Parker fronted Spidey book, STAT!
