This was an invaluable volume for helping me get through law school, and the bar exam. The compact size was really very important: I could (and did) carry it around with me everywhere, in the days before e-books were an option. It continues to be my first choice 20 years after graduating law school. In short, if you need a definition for citation purposes, you probably will (and should) use Black's Law Dictionary. But in order to understand the actual terms, use this volume.For anyone buying a law dictionary for those going to law school (admittedly, a dwindling number), Black's is the more spectacular gift. This Barron's dictionary, however, will be the more useful of the two

I sampled three popular law dictionaries for Kindle (1) Law Dictionary, (Mass Market) 6th Ed. (Barron's Legal Guides) , (2) Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law, and (3) Nolo's Plain-English Law Dictionary. By far, the best I'd seen is Barron's. Among other things, instant search is enabled, and there are hotlinks to related terms. Webster's is next (it's got hotlinks, but shows only one definition per page). Nolo is the worst; it's like all they did was convert the text.Major problem with Barron's: can't search by keywords. Searches bring up index entries only.

A Law Dictionary is absolutely necessary if you study law or you work in the area of law or have anything to do with law. This book is outstanding in understanding terms which otherwise would be Greek to me. Law terms take on new meanings when you understand what is really being said. One word can have nine different concepts and this Law Dictionary will make sure you understand each of those different concepts. This is an excellent reference and a total necessity if you are involved in the study of work in the area of law.

Every law student needs a copy of this book. I keep it in my backpack and probably use it every day, if not to look up a word/phrase for the first time but to reinforce my understanding of certain concepts. (I'm a 1L at the moment.)Also, some professors at my University do not allow electronics in their classroom; I am able to look up concepts that most can't because they can not get online!

I wanted to provide a graduating undergraduate mentee with practical resources for law school as a graduation gift. I ordered this and The Bluebook. While she hasn't yet used either book, as a law professor, I am confident she will get good use out of both. While I am a fan of Black's Law Dictionary, it is not a practical resource for a law student on the go. This is a fictional resource for that use.

Is easy to navigate and comes in handy.

I am a beginner to learning constitutional law for my high school studies. This book contains all of the terms that I have so far come aross. Easy to carry around.

The End of the World is Nigh is a humorous tale about a stern researcher, a rich and eccentric older gentleman, and a ditsy doomsday prepper whom fate has decided need to work together in order to solve a mystery.Like Tony’s other tales, this book had a little something for everyone; humor, mystery, light romance, historical elements, and a bit of suspense!The tale was told in two timelines- one in the present when a new prophecy was discovered, and one in the past that lead up to that same prophecy being written.I enjoyed the timeline that was set in the present, but I absolutely loved the timeline in the past! It was so fun and exciting, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next! I also loved that the author mixed in some more modern elements into the narration and the story itself. On more than a few occasions the sudden mention of something modern made me laugh out loud.In the tale, there were a few sections that I just had to highlight because of how much I enjoyed them!The first was a section on how the rumor about the end of the world spread. Seeing what the various theories were was equally hysterical and unnerving. It’s so amazing to think about how quickly news spreads and gets blown out of proportion like a game of telephone.I also loved the scene where Nostradamus taught Philibert the rules of writing a prophecy. I thought this sequence was so clever!There was a sequence where Chambard tried to capture a wild boar… My goodness, this had me laughing with tears streaming down my cheeks!Lastly, the opening of chapter “A Bump In The Night” was so perfect! I loved the formula to a successful horror movie! I adore when the author goes off on what seem like tangents at first, but it soon loops back to the story perfectly.Overall, I had a lot of fun reading this tale! I loved each of the elements that were woven together so wonderfully, especially the mix of humor, light romance, and mystery!If you enjoy novels that you can get totally immersed in, but which also touch on a few topics that make you stop and think, then I would highly recommend this one to you!

Having read Tony's previous books, I had high expectations of this one and I'm happy to report that it didn't disappoint. If you liked Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, you'll probably enjoy this book too. It is very entertaining, but also very well researched.I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and can't recommend it highly enough.

Tony Moyles writing gets better with each book, and I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could.The writing is smooth and elegant, and keeps your attention from start to finish. The story is great, with a nice mix of fiction and history. It takes place over two time lines: Where the prophecy began, and how it is panning out in modern times. The handling of the two timelines running simultaneously is very well done, and the tale flows perfectly.I loved the characters. From the determination of Philibert to be a better person, the wisdom of Chambard, as well as his ability to make anything happen, Gabriel's rare moments of brilliance, and the no-nonsense attitude of Ally, and the calm no panic demeanor of Antoine. The moments of humour, as well as wisdom are well placed. You may even spot pigeons!I have become a huge fan of Tony Moyle's work, and as always I look forward to future novels, as well as further adventures of Ally Oldfield.
