Thinking about bankruptcy., read this quickly before you see a lawyer. This is a very complex area of our law, it sucks. Even if the book isn't perfect it should scare you and give you questions,. Bankruptcy means loss of control of your spending and life. If you are in this awful situation, avoid mistakes. Bring cash. You'll need it. See a bankruptcy lawyer.

I really like this book. I filed Ch. 7 (pro se) about 3 years ago and I wish I had this information. It's not easy but it's not the hardest thing to do either; especially with so many resources out there. It's mostly paperwork and putting every aspect of your finances on paper. It's alot of great step by step info if you're brave enough to tackle it yourself. I like how he recommends NOT doing it on your own throughout the book depending on the complexity of your situation.
If you are interested in the mechanics of bankruptcy law and in particular if you are looking to represent yourself as a pro se debtor, this is a must read book. It puts the process in plain English and can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars. Worth the read.
Hoping to find some clarity in the bankruptcy process, I couldn’t bring myself to read more than a few paragraphs. Atrocious grammar, misspellings (obviously spell checked, correctly spelled misused words). Jumbled paragraphs. No thought trail. If this person really is a lawyer, they should hire me to rethink, restructure and rewrite this book. If this person really is a lawyer, their education needs some work.
Mr. Viscosi provided excellent information about the bankruptcy proceeding and clearly explained the forms to file pro se. I was unclear about what was exactly needed to file the petition myself but felt really confident after reading this book. He provided great examples, links, and references.
