Vigilante Assassin (A Jake Wolfe Novel) by Mark NolanRated 5 starsHoly guacamole! This book is non-stop action! Seriously from the beginning all the way to the end! I don’t know how Jake and Cody do it. I would be tired and need a little down time but they just keep going—-like a Timex watch!This story is amazingly good and very exciting! It was a quick read for me since I could hardly put the book down. The writing is very engaging ( I was surprised at all of the different kinds of technical gadgets in use ) and the characters are amazing! They have so many levels to them.I am very impressed with Cody. He was one of the main reasons I was interested in reading this book. He does not disappoint! He was so much more than an animal in the book. He was truly another character. Jake works him perfectly. There were even some great chapters from Cody’s point of view. That was truly interesting.Jake is a different sort of fella with all his thoughts on loyalty and protection. I really enjoyed the relationship he had with Terrell, Cody and even the Chief. They respect each other but still have a good time with each other. And Boy does Jake know how to work people to his advantage....he is a smooth talker for sure!This is my first Mark Nolan book. I have not read the first book in this series. It seems like there were references to things that happened but I did not feel left out or behind There was very nice flow to the story. I will be checking out the first story and look forward to the next.On a side note make sure you read the info after the story where the author thanks people. The part of all the unusual equipment was definitely interesting to read!

I highly recommend that you read Dead Lawyers Don't Lie first, then you will have a good background for this book.Vigilante Assassin is a mixture of genres: Law Enforcement, Terrorism, Counterterrorism with a hint of Military and a dash of Romance.Jake and his canine companion, Cody, have a day full of adventure. They could be seen on the water, land, or air either rescuing or being rescued.This book has so much going on but it seems to be all in a day's work for this duo. I really enjoyed how Mr. Nolan had several sections and a chapter devoted to Cody's viewpoint.Warning: This contains Violence. The good news is the Adult Language and such are generally "off scene".Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Reading Deal Review Club but enjoyed it so much when I saw it go on sale there, I downloaded it. The review above is mine and un-coerced.
Jake Wolfe and his war dog, Cody now have another fan! This book had my attention from the first page. I enjoyed reading about Jake's and Cody's relationship and I was able to fully appreciate it (I have a bodyguard dog that was cross-trained as a service dog and our relationship is much the same). Cody and Jake completely understand one another and make an impressive team.VIGILANTE ASSASSIN is nonstop adrenaline-fuelled action from beginning to end and you will not want to put it down once you start reading. This book is the definition of a page-turner and I read it straight through without stopping because I just had to know what happened next. Murders, kidnappings, terrorists, drug dealers, conspiracies — this book has it all! Enjoy!I thoroughly enjoyed this book (the first that I have ever read by Mark Nolan) and I would like to find more like it. The difference between this book and others in the genre was the character of Cody. I can assure you that trained dogs are this intelligent can learn as much as you are willing to teach them.I will definitely read DEAD LAWYERS DON'T LIE and I will be looking forward to more books in this series.

This is a story that has plenty of action and danger. It is a book that absolutely loved reading. It hooked me in from the first chapter and didn’t let go until I had finished the last page. I was wishing for it to be longer. I love the character of Jake Wolfe. He is a man that lives by his own rules. He does have a protective side and his own way of looking at things. What starts out as helping to find a missing man and husband turns into much more. He finds himself caught up in an investigation that has danger around every corner and coming at Jack from all angles. This is a book that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It had me wondering who was responsible, would they be caught, and who would be left standing! There are many characters in this story and a lot of them are friends and acquaintances of Jake’s. I loved reading about them. There is one character that holds a special place in my heart and that is the war dog, turned service dog, that helps Jake. I love when an author adds in an animal to their books and Cody is not just added, he is an amazing and wonderful character in the story. Cody is one of the reasons that I found this book so amazing. Jake sometimes walks a fine line between working within the law and outside of it. This is shown by some of the people that he works with and makes deals with. Once you start reading this story all you can do is sit back and hold on. This is the perfect book to get lost in for the afternoon. This is an author who has created an awesome book and amazing characters. It is the second book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one!
